I still have about two weeks left before my February design for my self-challenge is due. and to be honest I’m not quite sure if I’ll make it. Shortly after I made that declaration, my husband came down with the flu. Not long after that, I got it. Luckily it missed the child – small miracles. She did end up with some sniffles a couple weeks back, but it wasn’t the flu, just a cold.
The cough I acquired with my flu lingered around for a while. It finally disappeared, and not a week after that… it returned, along with some laryngitis. This time though it only seems to be a cold. That was last week. My voice is mostly back now, with the cough still being a booger at night.
So, this past month, (month and a half?) has been chalk full of ickies of various bugs. No joke – flu, cold, and…. *sigh* lice. Ew! Or at least what we suspected was lice. On the child, of course. Spent three hours one night last week treating it (shampoo and comb out), kept her home the next day, since the treatment kept her up way past bedtime. We bagged up all of the toys that she’d had on her bed into garbage bags, which will sit sealed up for at least two weeks, much to her chagrin. She had several cats from Build-a-Bear that she loved to sleep with. She’s tolerating it pretty well though. It’s not like she has any shortage of toys. We also had her grandmother cut her hair above her shoulders. Part of why it took so long to do the comb out was due to her really long, and THICK, hair. I figured if I am to be going through her hair every day for the next week, I don’t want to have to be combing through 13-15″ of hair. So now it’s more like 6″ of hair. We figured she was going to be quite upset about having to get it cut, but she was pretty understanding and dealt with it just fine.
Somewhere in there we also had her birthday and birthday party – she’s halfway to driving age now… What the heck?! And my husband and I also started a diet the same week we came down with the flu. I’ve lost about 12lb so far, but I still have several more to go.
So that is what this past month has consisted of… the flu & cold have left me feeling like doing diddly squat. Aside from one work from home day last week – the day I kept the child home from school – this is the first time I’ve come back to my office and actually sat in here for more than a couple of minutes. So, I guess I should start brainstorming for a design idea before we head out for our Valentine’s dinner…. Assuming the husband doesn’t want to load up Diablo III on the PS3 again for some more game time before we leave. I get sucked right into playing that one.
