Last year seemed to zip past, and this year is trotting along at a pretty fast pace already. A couple more days, and it will be February.
My daughter just turned ten last week. The school year is about half over, and before we know it, it will be time for ‘summer vacation’. Ha! Boy do I miss being a kid where I could just do nothing but play all summer.
I’m still trudging along at the non-webdesign-related day job, with a commute I’m growing weary of, but as always, the job pays the bills, so I continue on. If I stick around the rest of the year, I’ll mark year 18 at this company. Your eyes are not deceiving you, and that is not a typo. Eighteen. Years. Good grief, where did the time go?
But, I’m taking some free online classes at Codeacademy and FreeCodeCamp to try to learn some more skills, that I hope help me be able to leave the day job sometime this year for something different. At the very least it will help up my game for my little business here. So it will be fun to see which way this road takes me. And if in a year, I’m still at the regular old day job, well, I’ll just keep at it and try harder. At some point, something’s gotta go my way. As Dori says, “Just keep swimming!”
